Workshop 1: Biomaterials Translation Timeline: From Inception to Manufacturing

Timeslot: Wednesday, April 27, 2022 - 8:00am to 12:00pm
Room: Harborside Ballroom D-E, 4th Floor

About

Biomaterial research has been primed to meet the mainstream clinical needs in numerous biomedical applications including tissue regeneration and systemic disease therapy. However, the process of academic research translation has unique challenges at every phase. This workshop will focus on three distinct phases of biomaterials research translation from i) Inception of lab research into a technology: an experiential journey of academic entrepreneurs through university incubators/non-profit accelerators and non-dilutive funding. ii) Key elements for successful biomaterial technology translation: a discussion on legal foundations for securing start up technology and building investor relations. iii) Manufacturing challenges of Tissue Engineered and Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products: a didactical session focused on scale up, cryopreservation, and standards development. Leaders in biomaterials translation both from the academia, industry, and regulatory bodies will be invited to present.
