This workshop will provide relevant information for those planning to apply for a faculty position in ~1-3 years. The workshop will focus on the application and interview process (e.g., where to look for positions, components of the application package, typical interview schedule/questions to consider), how to stand out/network and land that position, what to do now that you have gotten an offer (negotiating), and what to do once you start your new academic position (how to set up your lab, recruit and mentor students, etc.). For individuals applying for academic positions in the coming academic year that are interested, the opportunity will be provided to practice and get feedback on one of the most daunting aspects of the faculty interview – the “chalk” talk. These candidates will take part in a mock chalk talk with current biomaterials faculty, who will provide mentorship and feedback on their presentations.
